Front Porch Family Portrait Fridays!

Have you ever had the opportunity to go through boxes of old family portraits?  Yes, this can be a chore, but there are always pictures that you come across that stand out or are special to you in one way or another.

In the last year, I have had several such opportunities and I find I most enjoy those images that not only have family members in them, but that in a single picture manage to capture a moment in time.

What I always notice is how incredible it is to see how our past generations lived, what our family members looked like in their younger days, how they dressed themselves and what their prize possessions were.  It's even interesting just to see the items they surrounded themselves with and how they adorned their homes. So over the weekend I began to search for some old family portraits online and i found a great blog that I would love to share with you (but alas, I accidentally closed the page rather than copying the name of the blog or the address).  The blog was just what I was looking for.

Here are some of the images that intrigued me based on the details they carried about the individuals, the family units and their homes.

In the midst of all the things that keep our lives so busy, isn't it nice to just sit and enjoy a family get-together out on the front porch?  Isn't it rejuvenating to relax outside and feel warm spring breezes and smell the new trees and flowers as they become new again?

Let's get together this spring and summer to capture some timeless images for you and your family to share with YOUR future generations.  I'll come to your home and we'll do a mini-portrait session right on your front porch.  We'll showcase your family from your very own front porch and show future generations what life was like in your day.

Front Porch Fridays will begin March 18th and run thru the summer.  If you've got a family, I've got a Friday, but hurry there are only 24 possible dates and between wedding rehearsals and family events, these will go quickly.

Contact me today to book YOUR Front Porch Friday!

Sessions are just $100 and include my time and travel, professional editing, your images posted into your own personal web page from which you may view or place orders AND a bonus of $25 towards wall art of your choice.

(Additional fees may apply if your front porch is outside of Allegany County.  Wall Art bonus has no cash value and will be void should you choose to forgo using it.)

KDP is Thinking PINK !!

Kirsten Dixon Photography is excited to announce a partnership with Think Pink Photography. Think Pink Photography was founded in October 2007 to support individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. We are a charitable organization that serves two main purposes – celebrating life and supporting the cause.
Through our professional photographer network, we are helping breast cancer patients to celebrate life with charitable photography sessions. Individuals may choose to document their fight against the disease before or during treatment, or prefer to capture their victory by scheduling a session within 12 months after treatment is completed. Photographers world-wide are now available to donate time and talent to celebrate life and support the cause. There is no cost or obligation to the breast cancer patient. Clients participating in a Think Pink Session will receive a complimentary photo session, as well as a set of 10 small prints from the session. They will also receive a discount on any additional portraits they wish to purchase, although there is absolutely no purchase required at any time.
To support the cause, we have partnered with The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation. All funds generated through donations and various fundraising efforts are paid directly to The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation. As a 3-time breast cancer survivor, Danielle Beverly and her husband Eric joined together to form a foundation dedicated to promoting education, increasing awareness, and providing support and resources for families who have been touched by breast cancer.
Please subscribe to our blog (on the Think Pink website) and tell your friends and family about Think Pink Photography. Awareness is everything and we can’t be successful without you.
I encourage you to view our website, make a donation, or hire a photographer that supports Think Pink Photography! If you, or someone you know, would like to schedule a Think Pink session, please contact me for details.
I am very proud to be a network photographer with Think Pink Photography, and am anxious to get the word out about this amazing program. For more information, you can contact me, or you can visit the Think Pink Photography website at:

Planning your FAMILY REUNIONS for Spring and Summer?

As we finally embrace the warmer weather, it's time to begin thinking about our family reunions.  That one time every year where all your family travels from where ever they are.. just to be together.  It's such an awesome experience!  Have you ever considered having a photographer present for these?  Someone who can capture all the fun you're having as a family and document this incredible time?  How amazing will it be each year to have permanent records of your loved ones from reunions past .. together in pictures with those whom they've since left behind.

Why have someone take pictures when ALL of you already bring cameras?  Because it's my job to be everywhere and capture all of the special parts of the day.  The warm hugs and excited greetings as loved ones reunite after so long apart, all of the new children playing together, all of the elders catching up, the silly games you play together as a family.  These are all things that generations to follow need to be reminded of as we encourage them to keep the tradition going.  Sure lots of people have cameras on that day but how many of those do you ever get to see?

Still thinking?  Well, one very special service that I offer to you during family reunions is FAMILY PORTRAITS!  In addition to all of your reunition images, we can do a giant portrait of everyone who attended in addition to ALL the individual families and any family breakdown you wish.  ALL this for one very reasonable price.

For just $175 I will spend your reunion with you.. up to 4 hours.  All of your reunion images will be placed on CDs for you to copy, share, e-mail, post etc., as you wish with full rights.

ALL Family Portraits will be posted on your very own page of my website for the entire family to view and have the opportunity to puchase.  The individual families can order their prints right from my site and I will ship them directly to each family.  I can even offer them beautiful pieces of large wall art of their families for their homes.  Same deal with Major Anniversary Celebrations.

Put your cameras away and just enjoy your family... Let me spend the day capturing those memories for you.

Contact me today to book your space.  Summers fill up quickly! $50 retainer fee to hold your date.

I will travel up to 2 hours from my home.  Travel expenses apply.
